Moyo Preschool: Life Child Malawi, located in Baluti village, Blantyre, serves disadvantaged families facing challenges like poverty, cultural barriers, and food insecurity. Currently, we support 60 children aged 3-5, providing daily quality education, nutritious meals, and recreational activities. By fostering strong relationships with families through home visits, we aim to create lasting change for children and their communities.
Life Child Malawi is situated in Baluti village, in the Blantyre district. This area predominantly comprises of poor and disadvantaged families. The people of Baluti come from many different cultural backgrounds and generally face many challenges because of their cultural beliefs and poverty level. Parents tend to have many children they are often unable to take care of. Most children in the area will go to sleep hungry at night and do not have access to many recreational opportunities. Often children here do not get to play or socialise with their peers due to the burden of extra responsibilities they carry, regardless of their age, in helping their families to survive.
Through Life Child, we aim to bring generational change in these challenging situations. Currently, we are caring for 60 children aged 3 to 5 years, who come to school, receive a quality education, and have a nutritious meal every day. We organise social and recreational activities with the children and visit them at their homes, developing a stronger child, family, and community approach to strengthen the relationship and offer specific help to meet the needs of each child.
Through the work of Life Child Moyo preschool, we continue to see cases where children who graduate from the school are not able to be sent to primary school because of a lack of resources. The focus on strengthening families and helping them stay together has helped to reduce such cases as families are empowered to continue educating their children and care for them in all aspects of their precious lives.
Families go through spiritual discipleship and training on various life issues and are taught how to run a business and grow it effectively. When they are trained, they are funded to start small businesses or given skills training, for example, tailoring and start-up merchandise for their business. They also receive grocery and food parcels each month and bibles for those who do not have any.
We work with three families ranging from 15 – 20 beneficiaries per intake for a period of 18 months.
Life Child is devoted to a child, family, and community approach to ministry.

Life Child has purchased land (3000 square meters) in Baluti, on which we plan to develop and build an ECD and a full primary school, and other related facilities like a playground, offices, ablution blocks, and a small auditorium. We want to see a changed community with a better understanding of generational change and boys and girls who are educated. We want to see a community that is growing in Christ with healthy families.
